Rob's Upcoming Projects

Robert Pattinson has lined up another film role. This time around the "Twilight" star will tackle the film adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's short story "Bel Ami," reports Variety

Pattinson broke the news while in Cannes promoting "Remember Me." "It's a totally amoral character," Pattinson said of the role, adding that he's playing a different kind of character than his fans are used to seeing.

Although no female lead has been cast, Pattinson said the actress who will take on the role "needs to be literally inspirational." And speaking of inspirational women, Pattinson described Jenny Lumet, who wrote the screenplay, as "a genius," saying that her script really connected with him.

"Bel Ami" is scheduled to start shooting in Paris next year. Pattinson managed to draw some parallels between his character in "Bel Ami" and Edward Cullen from "Twilight," saying, "They're both about commitment." He added that in "New Moon" fans will get to see a lot of Edward via Bella's "hallucinations."

In addition to "Bel Ami," Pattinson has recently been cast alongside Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz in the writing and directorial debut of actress Madeleine Stowe for her period drama, "Unbound Captives." "Captives" is a tale set in 1865 America about a woman played by Weisz whose husband is killed by a Comanche war party. Her two children, one of whom will be played by Pattinson, are kidnapped. She is then rescued by a frontiersman played by Jackman
